Hi, I’m Lee

I’m 60, and I believe life still has plenty of chapters left to write.

Here I share my honest thoughts and real=life experiences about love, family. relationships, personal growth, money, faith, mistakes and new beginings – and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

This is a space for anyone ready for more — more peace, more purpose, more growth and more joy.

Welcome to Love, Life & Lessons: My Next Chapter

About Me

I’m Lee, and this is a space where I share the lessons life has taught me through love, family relationships, mistakes, growth, and new beginnings.

At 60, I don’t believe life is winding down. I believe there are still new chapters to write, new things to learn, and plenty of reasons to laugh along the way.

I’m not here because I have all the answers. I’m simply sharing my experiences, my thoughts, and the lessons I’ve picked up along the way, and hopefully starting some honest conversations too.

Love, Life & Lessons: My Next Chapter.

My Life at 60: This Is Not the End of My Story

If you had asked me when I was 30 what I thought my life would look like at 60, I’m not sure what I would have said.

But I can almost guarantee it wouldn’t have looked exactly like this.

When we’re younger, 60 sounds old. We imagine that by then we’ll have everything figured out. The children will be grown, the big decisions will have been made, and life will somehow become quieter and more predictable.

Well, I’m 60 now.

And I certainly don’t have everything figured out.

In fact, I think I’m asking myself more questions than ever.

Looking Back

I’ve lived enough life to know that things rarely go exactly according to plan.

I’ve loved. I’ve raised a family. I’ve worked hard. I’ve made good decisions and some not-so-good ones. I’ve experienced happiness, disappointment, change, heartbreak and plenty of moments that probably deserve their own blog posts.

There are things I would do differently if I had the chance.

But perhaps that’s part of getting older — realising that life isn’t about getting everything right.

It’s about learning as you go.

And believe me, I’m still learning.

Something Changes at 60

One thing I’ve noticed about getting older is that I care much less about things that once seemed terribly important.

I don’t want unnecessary drama.

I don’t want to spend my life trying to please everybody.

And I certainly don’t want to waste the years ahead worrying about what other people think I should be doing at my age.

These days, what I want is actually quite simple.

Peace. Happiness. Good people around me. Time with my family. Laughter. New experiences.

And yes, perhaps even love again.

Why not?

Who decided there was an age limit on falling in love, travelling somewhere new, starting something new, making new friends or completely changing direction?

Certainly not me.

And Then There Is My Little Gem

One of the greatest joys in my life now is my grandson, AJ.

My little gem.

Nobody quite prepares you for being a grandmother. You think you’ve finished raising children and perhaps you’re finally going to have some peace and quiet.

Then along comes a little person who completely steals your heart — and quite a lot of your energy!

AJ makes me laugh, keeps me on my toes and reminds me that there is still so much joy in the simplest things.

A walk can become an adventure.

An animal can become the most exciting thing you’ve ever seen.

And apparently Nana can survive on far less energy than she ever thought possible.

Some days he absolutely wears me out.

But I wouldn’t change it.

Being his Nana is one of the most beautiful parts of my life at 60.

He also reminds me of something important: getting older isn’t only about looking backwards.

There are still new memories being made.

I Still Have Things I Want to Do

Turning 60 hasn’t made me feel as though my life is winding down.

Actually, it has made me more aware that time is precious.

There are places I still want to see.

Things I still want to try.

People I haven’t met yet.

Conversations I still want to have.

Mistakes I’ll probably still make.

And hopefully plenty of reasons to laugh at myself along the way.

Starting this blog is one of those new things.

I wanted somewhere I could talk honestly about life — love, relationships, family, money, mistakes, growing older, starting again and all those subjects we sometimes think about but don’t always say out loud.

I’m not writing because I have mastered life.

Far from it.

I’m writing because I’ve lived it.

And I’m still living it.

My Next Chapter

Maybe that’s the biggest lesson I’m learning at 60.

We spend so much of our younger years thinking we need to reach some imaginary destination where everything is finally sorted.

But perhaps there isn’t one.

Perhaps life is simply a collection of chapters.

Some are wonderful.

Some are painful.

Some are hilarious.

And some we would happily tear out of the book altogether!

But as long as we’re here, we can turn the page.

So this is me turning mine.

I’m 60.

I’m a mother.

I’m a grandmother to my little gem, AJ.

I’m still learning.

I’m still growing.

I’m still laughing.

And I’m definitely not finished yet.
